Live music event planned for Hall of Fame's 75th anniversary

More to come: Organizers still working on lineup of activities

Beside the live show, the Hall of Fame already announced a special commemorative coin by the U.S. Mint to mark the occasion.

Idelson said the Hall of Fame is about “the cultural footprint of baseball” on America and the world. The interactive show will intertwine such aspects as music, film literature and art to present the full spectrum.

“We’re looking forward to celebrating our 75th in grand style,” with this event that is expected to be televised, he said. “It’s more than a concert. It’s a celebration of baseball.”

According to a media release, the new 75th anniversary logo is inspired by the Hall of Fame’s iconic plaques of those who are enshrined in Cooperstown. Its design features the primary Hall of Fame mark, inlaid with a bronze composition of a large facet-cut “75” and a baseball diamond bordered by the years 1939 and 2014. The design is wreathed in laurels to represent the honor that accompanies earning Hall of Fame election.

“This is the first of many special recognitions and celebrations we will announce in the coming months to celebrate the 75th year of America’s most treasured baseball destination,” Idelson said of the debut of the logo.

Hall of Fame Weekend 2014 will be held July 26-29. The weekend will feature the Induction Ceremony for any individuals who earn election through the Expansion Era Committee Voting, which will be announced on Dec. 9, and the 2014 Baseball Writers’ Association of America election, which will be announced Jan. 8, 2014.
