Tickets for the annual National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Classic will be available next weekend − beginning on Saturday, April 16.
According to organizers, Classic Weekend will feature a slate of family-friendly activities, highlighted by the return of the Classic, a seven-inning legends game featuring seven Hall of Famers and 20 other retired major league stars, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 19 at Doubleday Field.
Other activities planned for Classic Weekend include a Hall of Fame golf tournament fundraiser for the museum, the new Classic Fest at Doubleday Field, the Youth Skills Clinic hosted by several former major league players, a special Voices of the Game program and other unique programs throughout the museum, according to a Hall of Fame media release.
“Through the first two years of a new tradition, the Hall of Fame Classic has provided a memorable Father’s Day experience for fans of all ages to see their baseball cards come to life at Doubleday Field,” said Hall of Fame President Jeff Idelson.
“As we continue to grow this marquee event, we’re excited to unveil a new interactive lineup of family events to assure that families of every generation have the ability to spend a baseball-themed Father’s Day Weekend in Cooperstown.”
Hall of Famers Andre Dawson, Goose Gossage, Phil Niekro, Tony Pérez, Jim Rice, Ozzie Smith and Dick Williams will headline the Classic, with preliminary rosters of more than 20 other former major leaguers to be announced this spring.
Former major leaguers already scheduled to appear include Frank Catalanotto, Doug Glanville, Bill Lee, Willie Wilson, Rick Wise and Dmitri Young. The 2011 Hall of Fame Classic will once again be staged in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association.
Tickets for the 2011 Hall of Fame Classic will first be available on Saturday, April 16, with museum members able to purchase online and by phone. Non-members can purchase tickets in person at the museum, beginning at 9 a.m. Tickets are $12.50 for first and third base seats and $11 for outfield seats. Ticket buyers may first line up at 6 a.m. on April 16. Overnight camping is not permitted.

The 2011 Hall of Fame Classic Weekend, including the Hall of Fame Classic, will be presented by Ford Motor Company for the third straight season.
The second annual Cooperstown Golf Classic on Saturday, June 18 will feature Hall of Famers Dawson, Gossage, Niekro, Pérez, Rice and Smith and serve as a fundraiser for the Hall of Fame’s educational programs.
According to organizers it is, “ a unique social experience providing memories and camaraderie that will last a lifetime.” Organizers said golfers of any ability will be able to enjoy a private cocktail reception in the Hall of Fame Plaque Gallery, breakfast on the Leatherstocking Golf Course clubhouse verandah, a round of golf in a scramble format at Leatherstocking, and conclude with a luncheon and awards ceremony, all in the company of the Hall of Famers. The Hall of Fame Classic will be once again preceded by the Cooperstown Game Day Parade, presented by the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce, the village of Cooperstown and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, The parade will begin at noon on June 19 on Main Street. Game participants will ride in the parade on their way to Doubleday Field, according to organizers.
Following the Cooperstown Game Day Parade, the Legends Hitting Contest will be held at Doubleday Field at 1 p.m., followed by the Hall of Fame Classic at 2 p.m.
Beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, the Hall of Fame, the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce and the Village of Cooperstown will present Classic Fest at Doubleday Field. Classic Fest will feature family activities inside Doubleday Field, along with interactive and demonstrative presentations, according to organizers.
Organizers said also on Saturday, the museum will host several exclusive programs for fans of all ages.
For kids ages 7 to 12, the museum will host the Legends for Youth Skills Clinic, from 8 a.m. until noon. Hosted in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association, the clinic gives youth participants a chance to learn hands-on training from several former major league stars, according to organizers. At 6 p.m. on June 18, the seven Hall of Fame members will be featured in aroundtable discussion of baseball at Doubleday Field in a one-hour reflection on their memories of the game. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Seating is limited. Registration begins April 18 by calling 547-0397.
