Home Notes

— BY FRANK MILLER

Rains, rain go away come back another day. That was on everyone’s mind at the home last month. The only benefit was that our pear, magnolias, almencheir, viburnum, crab apples and lilacs are beautiful. Thanks to the Clark greenhouse crew we have enjoyed beautiful spring daffodils and tulips as well.

It takes more than a little rain to stop us from having fun. We started the month  out with a Maypole dance

This can get confusing at times with the weaving of the colorful ribbons around the pole as I am sure Leon Rathbun could attest to.

Hilde, Martha and part time Activity Director Sandy Brown were having a rather comical time in the library during crossword hour, which turned into a sort of charades and comedy hour.

Wednesday surprise activity continued with golf, a slide show on Sandy Brown’s walking journey through Spain, students from Vivian Allison’s class at Brookwood School came for some storytelling, and a very fun game of bowling.

Happy May birthdays to Sue Stevens, Bill Bowes, Maureen Micek, and our dog Dudley. Maureen enjoyed a surprise party for her 90th birthday with friends and family on May 22. Staff Renata Hickey, Sue Caraftis and Jacelyn Sadlon also celebrated their birthday in May.

Memorial Day was Monday, May 30, and I would like to say thank you to Bill Bowes, Alberta Bowes, Joe Langan, Wally Pickhardt, Ralph Veenema, Leon Rathbun, Sue Stevens, and Art Laidlaw for their Military Service to our country.

On May 16, we lost a special friend, Natalie (Bunny) Laidlaw, whose personality, smile and friendship will be greatly missed.
