FoMA to present 16th annual Cabaret Night
The 16th annual Friends of
Cooperstown Central School
Music and Art Cabaret Night
will heat up Friday evening.
The event will be held
from 5 to 9 p.m. at the
Cooperstown High School.
A full lineup of musical
entertainment is on tap this
year, ranging from a duet
by Jacob and Ethan Russell
to the other end of the age
spectrum, the Not Quite Over
the Hill Singers. Rebecca
Burke-Sciallo will emcee the
evening. Singers Henry Bauer,
Desmond Brown, Jake Burnham,
Georgia Hren-Saphier,
Liz Kenison, George Landon,
Virginia Ofer, Julia Robinson,
and Anna Sams will perform
solos or duets.
Nate and Josh Olmstead,
Joey Katz, and the quartet of
Toby and Abby Wilcox, Julien
Miller, and Eamonn Maguire
will entertain with instrumental
selections.
Several school ensembles
will perform, including Harmonia,
the Middle School and
High School Jazz Bands, and
the fourth and fifth-grade
instrumental groups.
Faculty members slated
to take the stage include
Michael Toulson, Tim Iversen,
Sal Salvaggio, and Rebecca
Burke-Sciallo.
Perennial community
favorites Native Sons and
Small Town Big Band will also
be appearing. Local band
Cheese of the Misty Ceremony
will once again close
the show.
A Brooks Bar-B-Q dinner
will be served from 5 to 7:30
p.m., at tables decorated with
artwork of Kristen Karasek’s
and Eileen Murphy’s students.
The cost for dinners is $10/
half chicken and $7/quarter,
and takeouts will be available.
A raffle drawing supported by
donations from over 20 local
arts organizations and businesses
will cap the evening’s
festivities.
Proceeds from Cabaret
Night will be used by the
Friends of CCS Music and
Art to support music and
arts education at CCS and to
fund Summer Scholarships,
Art Awards, and the Middle
School Drama Club. FoMA
meets the first Wednesday
of the month at 7:30 p.m. in
the high school faculty room,
and new members are always
welcome.
