'Flute Fest’ at the Otesaga today
The Cooperstown Chamber
Music Festival will present
“Flute Fest” at the Otesaga
today at 7:30 p.m.
The concert, which is free
and open to the public, will
feature a flute choir from the
NY Summer Music Festival’s
International Flute Institute.
The concert is the culmination
of two weeks of intensive
study and rehearsals
under the guidance of Walter
Auer, Principal Solo
Flute of the Vienna Philharmonic,
and Cooperstown
Chamber Music Festival artistic
director and flutist
Linda Chesis, the press release
said.
The 18 participants in the
Flute Institute are from Korea
and throughout the
United States, and are aged
11 to 22. They will perform
works by Gershwin, Bernstein
and Mozart.
“Their level of musicianship
is very impressive,” said
Chesis, who is chair of the
woodwind department at the
Manhattan School of Music.
“The sound of them all playing
together is extraordinary.”
The concert will be
held in the ballroom of the
Otesaga Resort Hotel, 60
Lake St., in Cooperstown.
No reservation or ticket is
required.

with the Brubeck Brothers
Quartet on Aug. 19. Evening
concerts begin at 7:30 p.m.

chats with the artists on
Aug. 9 and 13.
