Annual turkey dinner is Nov. 19

Once again, the eighth grade class at Cooperstown Middle School is preparing for the annual Senior Citizen Turkey Dinner that will be held on Thursday, Nov. 19, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Cooperstown Middle- High School cafeteria.

This event is free and open to all retired residents of the Cooperstown Central School District as well as retired Cooperstown faculty and staff. Takeout meals and deliveries are available for those senior citizens unable to attend. Call Denise Thayer at 547-5512 by Friday, Nov. 13, to make reservations or to order a delivery.

The eighth grade class sponsors the annual Senior Citizen Turkey Dinner as one of their community service projects. The students will be learning to write letters to invite retired faculty and staff members, create programs and placemats, prepare and serve the food for the dinner.

``This project is always rewarding as well as challenging for our eighth grade middle school students,’’ said eighth grade team leader Brad Smith.
