Fort Plain High School is hosting a six week baseball camp starting Jan. 5. 

Fort Plain head coach Craig Phillips will direct the program in conjunction with the U.S. Baseball Academy. Classes are available for players in grades 1-12 and are limited to six players per coach. Sessions are offered in advanced hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and baserunning. 

Proceeds from the program benefit amateur baseball in Fort Plain.

HOF plans World Series gala

The national pastime’s marquee postseason event will come home to Cooperstown via the airwaves as the World Series Gala returns to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum on Oct. 26.

The Museum’s Grandstand Theater will play host to one of the Hall of Fame’s most popular events on the last Saturday in October. The family-friendly event features refreshments, trivia, raffles, prizes and a live broadcast of Game 3 of the 109th World Series from the home of the National League champions.

Doors will open at 7:30 p.m., with Game 3 expected to begin at 8 p.m.

A ticket is required for this event and costs $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Participants in the Hall of Fame’s Membership Program may reserve tickets now, and any remaining tickets will be available to the general public on Oct. 21 by calling the Membership Department at 607-547-0397.
