Friends of Bassett holds golf tournament

---- — Hosted by the Friends of Bassett Healthcare Network, the 16th annual KeyBank Bassett Medical Center Invitational took place on Tuesday, May 28, at the par-72 Leatherstocking Golf Course. The event enabled the Friends to raise $150,000. Proceeds will support the Friends’ Annual Fund, which strengthens Bassett Healthcare Network’s regional initiatives across its eight-county service area.

Representing the Friends, Josh Truman, director of Fund Development, said, in a media release, “All of our 2013 participants persevered damp conditions early in the round but a great day was had by all. We are very appreciative to our sponsors that have shown their continuous dedication to our Bassett Healthcare Network. The Keybank Bassett Invitational was a tremendous success due to the diligent work from The Otesaga and Friends of Bassett Healthcare Network staff.”

Truman also thanked the members of the Invitational Committee who volunteered their time and expertise to make the fundraiser a success: Jim Empie, Matt Schuermann, Bob Schlather and Dan Spooner.

First-place winners in the low-net team category were Don Brigham, Clif Coleman, Bruce Hall and Douglas Wilson, who represented Bruce Hall Home Center. The second-place team, Kevin Drumm, Ken Elliot, Jeff Gresham and Tim Ross, represented Matco Electric. The third-place foursome, Jason Becker, Jim Becker, Steven Cole and Glen McCarthy, were from Middleburgh Telephone Company. Coming in at fourth-place was the Pepsi Beverages Company of Utica foursome, Roland Charlton, Eric Rostohar, Rick Slaughter and Matt Stubley. In the low-gross team category, DAVIN Informatics’ team, Scott Sullivan and David Theobald and Pinnacle Health Groups’ team, Mike Broxterman and Geoff Frankovich, brought home the prizes. The second-place team, Scott Metke, Joe Sharamitaro, Mike Sharamitaro and Dan White, represented McCarthy Building Co. Also, Caleb Smith for straightest drive, Glen McCarthy for closest-to-pin, Karen Ohliger for longest drive (women) and Joe Sharamitaro for longest drive (men).
