---- — The 2013 Cooperstown/Otsego County Relay For Life, held May 17-18 at Cooperstown Dreams Park, has set another fundraising record. Co-chairwomen Teri Sammis and Carla proudly announce that $118,158 has been raised, surpassing last year’s record setting total by more than $6,000 and topping this year’s goal of $115,000.
Relay for Life is sponsored by the American Cancer Society and is approaching its 16th year locally. The American Cancer Society is second only to the Federal Government in the amount of money raised to fund cancer research.
The Planning Committee wishes to thank the 44 teams comprised of more than 450 participants for their amazing fundraising efforts. In addition, a special note of gratitude is extended to the Tired Iron of Butternut Valley Antique Tractor Club for holding fundraisers totaling more than $4,600 to benefit the event.
