---- — With more than 11,000 people 60 years of age and older living in Otsego County, the needs of seniors are significant and yet help can sometimes be difficult to access easily in this largely rural county, according to a media release from Bassett Medical Center.
For that reason, Bassett Medical Center is again holding a Senior Resource Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, in the lobby of the clinic building on River Street in Cooperstown.
There is no admission fee. The intent is simply to connect seniors with the resources they may need, accoridng to the release.
“We look at the common areas of interest among our seniors and pull together the folks who can get them the answers they need on a variety of topics,” Nan Apps, director of Service Excellence for Bassett said in the release. “We’ll have experts on everything from medications, financial assistance for medications and home health equipment to skilled nursing care, home care for seniors, hospice, Alzheimer’s and many more.”
Among the organizations and agencies that will have staff on hand to answer questions at the Senior Resource Fair are:
• First Community Care of Bassett
• Bassett Cancer Institute
• Bassett’s Trauma and Stroke Program
