---- — The Cooperstown Central School District will host an informational meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to learn about the $5.9 million Capital Project Referendum being held on March 12.

The meeting will be held in the Junior-Senior High School cafeteria. Tours of high school facilities will also be offered so that residents can see proposed improvements and renovation needs.

At the request of a number of residents, voting hours have been expanded at the referendum vote on March 12. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Room 304-305 of the Junior-Senior High School at 39 Linden Ave.

People are entitled to vote if they are a U.S. citizen, 18 or older, and a resident of the Cooperstown school district for at least 30 days.

Residents do not need to register in advance to vote but should bring identification with them to show that they are school district residents.

Residents may vote by absentee ballot if they cannot appear at the polling place on March 12.

To receive an absentee ballot, fill out an application from District Clerk Wendy Lansing in the superintendent’s office at 39 Linden Ave. The completed application must be returned to Lansing at least seven days before the referendum to have a ballot mailed, or at least one day before the election to pick up the ballot at the superintendent’s office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Absentee ballots must be completed and returned to Lansing no later than 5 p.m. March 12.
