---- — Brewery Ommegang is putting on two events at the beginning of 2014, for those who are not too tired out from ringing in the New Year.
On Jan. 4, Ommegang will be holding a post-holiday party at the brewery from noon to 5 p.m.
Party attendees will be able to retire their Christmas trees on a bonfire, and those who bring a Christmas tree to the blaze will be given an Ommegang glass. Guests will also be able to exchange their “worst,” christmas gifts with one another.
The party will also feature Ommegang ales, giveaways and prizes. Prizes will be given out every hour, on the hour, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Ommegang’s Great Beer Deserves Great Food dinners will return on Jan. 11 at 7 p.m.
The first GBDGF dinner of 2014 will feature Cafe Ommegang’s new executive chef Evan Brown, who joined Cafe Ommegang in September.
Brown is a certified beer Cicerone and studied at the New England Culinary Institute. This will be his first GBDGF dinner and his menu features five courses. These courses are: endive soup with fine herbs and local honey comb, beet salad with goat cheese, potato salad with chive oil and bacon, bacon mousse stuffed rabbit loin with sweet potato gnocchi and anise braised leeks, and cherry and amber malt jello with Three Philosophers Chantilly cream. Each course will be paired with an Ommegang ale, that highlights the dish.
Tickets for this Jan. 11 dinner are $75 and available now at the Ommegang store. Seating is limited and, according to a release, GBDGF events sell out quickly.
