Voters pass local school budgets

---- — Cherry Valley-Springfield, Cooperstown and Milford all won approval from voters on Tuesday for their 2013-14 school budgets.

The CV-S board of education proposed a $12,842,121 spending plan (a 1.5 percent budget increase) and a 1.9 percent tax levy increase. 

The CCS board proposed a $17,257,886 spending plan (a 2.9 percent budget increase) with a 2 percent hike in the tax levy. 

Milford’s BOE proposed a spending plan of $9,857,029 (a 4.4 percent increase in the budget) with a 2.6 percent increase in the tax levy.

CV-S voters picked Gregory Lowry as the new addition to the school board over Barbara VanSpanje . VanSpanje will fill a seat formerly held by Corey Webster, but declared vacant by the board in April.

In Cooperstown, Andrew Marietta and Mary Leonard were both reelected without opposition.

In Milford, board president Susan Ward, board vice-president Paul Beisler and board member Kenneth Stanford were all reelected. William Konchar also ran to be on the board, but was unable to defeat any of the incumbents.
