Texas troubadour Walt Wilkins will have a special solo concert at Brewery Ommegang at 7 p.m., Oct. 2.
Wilkins and his Texas hill country group,The Mystiqueros, played at Ommegang back in 2011. While he still makes music and tours with The Mystiqueros, this is a special solo tour, according to a media release. Cooperstown will be one of nine stops on this solo east coast tour for Wilkins.
With 10 records to his credit, this is his first such solo east coast tour in more than a decade. It is in support of his latest solo record “Plenty.”
The San Antonio-born Wilkins is known for his story-songs, hard-edged vocals and a plaintive guitar have made him a fixture of the Texas and Nashville music scenes. He’s also played on albums by many country stars including Kenny Rogers, Hal Ketchum, Kellie Pickler, Ricky Skaggs, Pam Tillis, Ty Herndon and Pat Green.
