The Cooperstown Art Association will host an opening reception of an exhibit and the re-opening of its Artist Sales Gallery.
Festivities will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 8. “An Artistic Discovery” the Congressional Art Competition for Otsego County high school students will be on display in Gallery A through March 29. According to a media release, the Artist Sales Gallery will once again be filled and open for gift-giving needs through November.
“An Artistic Discovery” is a high school art competition held within the 19th Congressional District by county. Six students will receive ribbons for their work at the CAA and a digital image of their artwork will then be submitted to Congressman Chris Gibson’s office for final selection in the next phase of competition. From there, one student’s work will go on to be displayed in the corridor leading to the U.S. Capitol along with 49 other high school artists’ work from across the country.
The Cooperstown Art Association galleries are at 22 Main Street in the Village Building on the corner of Main and Fair streets in Cooperstown. The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through Saturdasy and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 547-9777 or visit www.cooperstownart.com.
