Sloan Wainwright to perform in Oxford|

---- — Singer songwriter Sloan Wainwright will be performing at 6 On The Square in Oxford this Saturday.

A folk-pop artist, Wainwright has been described by the New York Times as having an, “ mother voice that she pours into unexpectedly sensitive blends of folk, jazz, blues and funk.” 

She is a member of the illustrious Wainwright family of folk musicians, whose members include her brother Loudon Wainwright, nephew Rufus Wainwright and nieces Martha Wainwright and Lucy Wainwright Roche.

According to a release to the media, Wainwright will be putting her own spin on a variety of pieces of holiday music in her Oxford performance. The show starts at 7:30 p.m, and tickets are $20 (plus a $2 ticket service charge) before the date of the performance and $25 the day of. Tickets for students under 18 are $2, and those interested are asked by the venue to call to make a student reservation. 

6 On the Square will also be featuring the nature and wildlife photography of New Berlin resident Deborah Smith until Dec. 22, and there is a display of recycled holiday ornaments made by Oxford Academy Primary School students in the window. Doors will be opening one hour before the show.

Located at 6 LaFayette Park in Oxford, 6 On the Square is a not-for-profit, volunteer-based community arts and music venue. Other upcoming performers include The Burns Sisters on Dec. 22 and Woodshed Prophets on Jan. 11. There will also be an Open Mic on Dec. 19, as there is on the third Thursday of each month, admission to which is free.
