---- — A Maryland teen has earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the Eagle Scout Award.

Johnathan David Ashe will be recognized during a ceremony at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at the Otsego Area Occupational Center in Milford.

Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community, church or synagogue-related service project to earn the Eagle rank. Ashe chose to make improvements to the Robert V. Riddell State Park by adding registry boxes at each point of entry, adding a tree identification trail with a park map, as well as adding and extending fishing trails with an elevated walkway.

He has served as troop quartermaster, treasurer and junior assistant scoutmaster and was elected into the Order of the Arrow by fellow Scouts.

Ashe is active in the Natural Resources Occupations program at the Otsego Area Occupational Center and attends Milford Central School, where he is a senior. He is the son of Harold and Rebecca Ashe of Maryland, grandson of Larry and Carol Kessler of Milford and Pat and the late David Ashe of Oneonta.
