Robert Tabor will take over as president of the Cherry Valley-Springfield Board of Education as a result of Frank McGrath resignation from his leadership position at the board’s meeting Feb. 28.
“Due to circumstances beyond my control, I will no longer be able to fulfill the duties of president of the Cherry Valley-Springfield Board of Education,” McGrath wrote in his letter of resignation.
McGrath, who did not respond to a Crier request for follow-up information, will still continue to serve on the board, according to school officials. He was first elected to the board in 2009; his term ends in June 2014. He was elected board president in July 2012 after serving the previous year as vice president.
CV-S school policy states that the vice president will fill in for the president if necessary, which means Tabor will replace McGrath. Tabor was first elected to the board in 2011 and was elected vice president in 2012.
Tabor will serve as president until the board members elect a new president. A special meeting was held last night, after deadline, and the next regular meeting is on March 21.
