---- — Sint Niklaas will returning to Brewery Ommegang for his annual visit from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15.

St. Niklaas will tell stories and lead Christmas song sing-alongs; he will also listen to what the children would like for Christmas and sit for photos for parents. There will be a Belgian draft horse-drawn wagon for wagon rides; or sleigh rides if there is enough snow. There will be no admission fee and all are welcome. Free tours and $3 beer tastings for adults are available all afternoon. Bell and Motley will create seasonal music on traditional instruments.

This is first and foremost a family event, according to a media release from the brewery. St. Niklaas will arrive at noon, accompanied by Black Peter, and will welcome children, tell them Belgian Christmas stories, lead them in Christmas song singing, and give out small goodies. There will be holiday decorations, wagon or sleigh rides, kids activities, and, beer tasting for the adults.

Café Ommegang will be open and serve a Belgian-inspired menu. Among the great Belgian treats are mussels, Belgian frites, baguette sandwiches, croquettes and crepes. For more sweets, Ommegang will sell Belgian chocolates, hot chocolate, coffee and hot cider, freshly-made Belgian waffles and sweet-filled crepes.

Café Ommegang and the store will be open from noon to 5 p.m. The store will sell beer, glassware, chocolates, wearables, and many other holiday gifts, including a selection of Belgian imports including Duvel, Chouffe, Maredsous, Liefmans, and more. The 2012 version of Ommegang’s Art of Darkness, its dark winter Belgian ale, will be available in the store, along with a limited supply of XV, its 15th anniversary ale, in gift cans.
