---- — City of Oneonta Mayor Dick Miller, Cooperstown Mayor Jeff Katz and Town of Oneonta Supervisor Bob Wood have released a joint letter asking that a portion of the money generated by Otsego County’s bed tax be redirected back to the county’s municipalities.

Speaking to The Cooperstown Crier, Katz said that this money would be divided based off the amount of bed tax revenue each municipality generates.

The letter also goes on to propose that if a percentage of current county bed tax money is not redirected, the rate could be increased from 4 percent to 6 percent, with all of the revenue generated from the increase given to the municipalities.

“Any increase would be exclusively used to be redirected back to the municipalities that generate it,” said Katz.

The letter also says that Otsego County’s current 4 percent bed tax rate is less than almost any other county in the state.
