Nashville-based singer and songwriter Erin Thomas will appear at 7 p.m. July 13 at Lake Front Restaurant in Cooperstown.
She is touring in support of her debut album “You Don’t Know Me,” which includes 11 self-penned songs (including a duet with Vince Gill) and a cover of “New Beginnings” by the Larry Jon Wilson. Thomas will be joined by her husband, saxophonist and Cooperstown native Brian Horner.
Thomas’ touring has brought her to some of the country’s most renowned venues including Nashville’s Bluebird Café, Atlanta’s Eddie’s Attic and the Birchmere in Washington, D.C., where she opened for Maura O’Connell. This tour includes stops at The Living Room in New York City and Club Passim in Boston.
According to a media release, “You Don’t Know Me” is a collection of Thomas’ thoughtful and provocative songs that originated from a period of intense change in her life. Known as a French horn player in Nashville’s classical and studio musician community, an injury ended her career and forced her to detour into new musical territory. Now, just less than two years after putting down her horn, and with more than a dozen songs to her credit, she’s released her debut album, “You Don’t Know Me.”
Bringing her own musical opinions and expertise into the studio, she co-produced the album with renowned multi-instrumentalist John Mock. Through the generosity, love and support of her family and friends, she was able to use a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project, allowing her and Mock to hire the best players available for the sessions, according to a media release.
Horner grew up in Cooperstown and graduated from Cooperstown Central School in 1995. After attending the University of Michigan School of Music he moved to Nashville to begin a career as a performer and music industry executive. He has released two solo albums and has presented concerts at New York’s Carnegie Hall and Steinway Hall as well as other appearances across the country, and was featured on the cover of “Saxophone Journal.” He is also the owner of Sound Artist Support, an artist management and marketing company in Nashville.
