---- — The Otsego County Office of Emergency Services has partnered with Hyper-Reach Emergency Notifications System to provide mass emergency notifications to residents, according to a media release from the county agency.
Hyper-Reach allows emergency services staff to quickly send a message to residents in a specific area informing them of a situation that may require action on their part. The system is designed to send thousands of calls of messages simultaneously and has been successfully used on countless occasions across the county for incidents such as hazardous chemical releases, missing persons, storm warnings and boil-water alerts. The message informs residents of what is occurring, what steps need to be taken and other emergency related information.
All hardwired telephones in the county are automatically listed in a confidential database to receive these alerts. If residents want to receive warnings/messages that pertain to their local area, home or property while they are away, they will will need to register additional points of contact such as cell phone and email.
This can be done through the “Reverse 911” link available on the banner at the top of the Otsego County homepage at www.otsegocounty.com.
