Performance set at Lake Front Restaurant

Coop native to join wife on stage

Nashville-based singer and songwriter Erin Thomas will appear at 7 p.m. at Lake Front Restaurant in Cooperstown tonight.

She is touring in support of her debut album “You Don’t Know Me,” which includes 11 self-penned songs (including a duet with Vince Gill) and a cover of “New Beginnings” by the late Larry Jon Wilson. Thomas will be joined by her husband, saxophonist and Cooperstown native Brian Horner.

Thomas’ touring has brought her to some of the country’s most renowned venues including Nashville’s Bluebird Café, Atlanta’s Eddie’s Attic and the Birchmere in Washington, D.C., where she opened for Maura O’Connell. This tour includes stops at The Living Room in New York City and Club Passim in Boston.

According to a media release, “You Don’t Know Me” is a collection of Thomas’ thoughtful and provocative songs that originated from a period of intense change in her life. Known as a French horn player in Nashville’s classical and studio musician community, a playing injury ended her career and forced her to detour into new musical territory. Now, just less than two years after putting down her horn, and with more than a dozen songs to her credit, she’s released her debut album, “You Don’t Know Me.”

Bringing her own musical opinions and expertise into the studio, she co-produced the album with renowned multi-instrumentalist John Mock. Through the generosity, love and support of her family and friends, she was able to use a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project, allowing her and Mock to hire the best players available for the sessions, said the release.

Though it’s unclear what the future holds, the last couple of years have taught Thomas that anything truly is possible, according to the release.
