On Sunday, June 23, 74 Cooperstown Central School seniors will put on caps and gowns to conclude one phase in their lives and prepare to embark on another.
Among those walking to the tune of “Pomp and Circumstance” will be the top four students. These students will be expected to do a little something extra, give a speech.
This year’s top four students are Hope Dorothy Dohner, Thomas Walter Franck, Erik Hans Mebust and Katherine Marie Monser.
In the fall, Dohner will be attending Carnegie Institute of Technology in Carnegie Mellon University. While there, Dohner is planning to study mechanical engineering.
During her years at CCS, Dohner was a member of many clubs and teams including student council, Leo Club, quiz team, Battle of the Books, jazz band, the student run fashion show. She also is a member of the State University College at Oneonta Fencing Club.
The senior is one of Eric and Mary Dohner’s six children.
Franck, son of Patrick and Carina Franck, will be attending Harvard College in the fall. Franck has an interest in graduate school and studying abroad.
During his years at CCS, Franck served as the class vice president for three years, was a member of the quiz team, jazz band, pit bands, pep band and library club. He also participated on the varsity soccer and swim teams and was the president of the National Honor Society.
Mebust, son of Kai and Lynne Mebust, plans to attend the State University College at Geneseo and is enrolled in the Edgar Fellows (Honors) Program. While there, Mebust will be a member of the varsity swim team. He will be majoring in English.
While attending CCS, Mebust has been a member of the varsity swim team. He participated on the quiz team and in many Battle of the Books competitions.
