Organizations must describe their project, how the money will be used, the population served and how the community will benefit. Completed applications for the spring round of grants are due March 1.
The Cooperstown Club meets at 6:30 p.m. the first and third Wednesday of the month at the Tunnicliff Inn and Restaurant in Cooperstown.
The Cooperstown Middle/High School building will be open from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. daily for walking. Those who wish to join the program may do so by signing up in the superintendent’s office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. any Monday through Friday. This program is free and open to all district residents while school is in session. The walking program is not in effect during holidays or snow days.
Coats for Kids collection starts
Bassett and First Choice Cleaners are collecting gently used winter coats during November for the Coats for Kids program at Bassett locations and at the Cooperstown, Oneonta and Delhi First Choice Cleaners locations. First Choice Cleaners is donating dry cleaning services for the garments.
Coats for Kids is a program that many organizations nationwide participate in to ensure that families who have no coats for their children can get one at no cost.
Donations from the community will be accepted at the Bassett Clinic on River St. in Cooperstown, Herkimer Health Center at 321 E. Albany St., Oneonta Health Center at 125 Main St., Oneonta Specialty Services at 1 Associate Drive and First Choice Cleaners at 18 Main St. in Oneonta, 99 Chestnut St. in Cooperstown, and Price Chopper Plaza in Delhi.
Coats will be distributed at Oneonta Health Center from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 30, and at the Herkimer Health Center from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 1. For more information, call 547-3914.
