Elijah Coley, son of Judi Hacklin and Colbert Coley, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2013 at Milford Central School. Coley is a member of the National Honor Society, Rotary Interact Club, Student Government representative and co-founder and co-president of Kindness Revolution. He participated in soccer, basketball and track and field. He has been actively involved in school musicals each year as well as the district’s instrumental music program. He was selected to participate in RYLA, was a Catskill Area Study Council student director, received the Rensselaer Medal Award and a Clark Scholarship. This year Coley participated in a new pilot program for engineering technology. He plans on continuing his education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to study architecture.
Spencer O’Bryan, son of Laura O’Shea and Charles O’Bryan has been named the salutatorian for the Class of 2013. O’Bryan is a member of the National Honor Society and is a Clark Scholarship recipient. He is the head of MISSION, a student run philanthropy group that focuses on education and service learning with a community and environmental focus. He is co-president of the Rotary Interact Club and the Environmental Club. He participated in athletics; setting school records in swimming and scoring winning goals on the soccer field. He has participated in school musicals throughout high school. He represented MCS at the HOBY conference in 2011 and was selected as a Bezos scholar at the annual Bezos Ideas Festival in Aspen, Colo. in the summer of 2012. He plans on attending Carleton College in Northfield, Minn.
The ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. on the softball field, weather permitting. If Mother Nature does not cooperate, festivities will be moved inside to the gymnasium.
