The Farmers’ Museum will be hosting a book signing on Sunday featuring Dina Falconi and illustrator Wendy Hollender, authors of the new book “Foraging and Feasting: A Field Guide and Wild Food Cookbook.”
The event will be held in conjunction with Harvest Festival. At 12:30 p.m., the pair will demonstrate botanical drawing, and they will answer questions about wild-plant identification, foraging and cooking. At 1 p.m., they will offer a tasting of a recipe and sign copies of their book.
“Foraging and Feasting: A Field Guide and Wild Food Cookbook” celebrates and reclaims the lost art of turning locally gathered wild plants into nutritious, delicious meals, a traditional foodway long practiced by our ancestors but neglected in modern times. The book features 50 botanical illustrations and more than 100 master recipes.
According to a media release, the easy-to-use reference charts collate the information found throughout the book, helping to locate the harvest and use it tastefully.
Paid visitors to Harvest Festival may access the book signing and other foraging and feasting activities. Admission prices for Harvest Festival are $12 for adults (13-65), $10.50 for seniors (65+), $6 for juniors (7-12), and free for NYSHA members and children 6 and younger.
