---- — The Cooperstown girls varsity soccer team clinched a spot in the Section Three Class C Tournament against Hamilton last Thursday.
Julie Dykstra and Maggie Hall scored to lead the Redskins to a Center State Conference, 2-1, victory.
Dykstra’s goal, off a corner kick from Erika Maher, came with 11 minutes gone in the first half. Hall followed a minute later, taking a pass from Lexi Bloomfield and scoring from about 12 yards.
Eme Jones cut Cooperstown’s lead to one with less than seven minutes left, but goalie Katie Kleban made several clutch saves to preserve the lead, Redskins coach Jennifer Pindar said.
Cooperstown started the season 0-5, but has won five in a row and six of its last seven.
The Redskins completed its CSC schedule Monday at Sauquoit Valley with a 3-0 loss.
Elisa Marchione scored two goals to give host Sauquoit Valley the win.
Marchione’s first goal came with 17 minutes left in the first half. Marchione and Gabby Linck each scored in the second half.
Katie Kleban made 15 saves for the Redskins.
