Freshman coming up big for CCS baseball

On Monday, winning pitcher Rob Slivinski struck out nine, walked five and held host Cooperstown to one hit in Sauquoit Valley’s 4-2 road victory.

Cooperstown’s two runs came in the fourth inning starting when Ethan Bliss and Jack Donnelly drew back-to-back walks. Both came around to scored on passed balls to give Cooperstown a 2-1 lead.

The Indians tied it at 2 in the sixth and then scored twice in the seventh. RJ Stinella and Zach Thomas had RBI singles in the inning.

Cooperstown (4-2, 4-2) will host Hamilton on Friday.

“The Center State Conference is going to be like this all year,” Miosek said. “There’s no one team better than the others. We’re going to have to scratch out wins.”
