SPORTS ROUNDUP

(Continued)

Cooperstown 8, Sidney 7

5/6

Sawyer Haney’s bases-loaded single in the eighth inning drove home the winning run in Cooperstown’s non-league win at Doubleday Field.

Winning pitcher Scott Curtis reached on an error to start the eighth. He went to third on Jack Donnelly’s double off the fence in left. After an intentional walk to Nico Knull, Haney singled sharply down the third-base line. Curtis, a freshman, held Sidney scoreless in the seventh and eighth innings to earn his first varsity victory.

Donnelly, Haney and freshman Ray Cabrera had two hits apiece for Cooperstown, which received an RBI single from Ethan Bliss during a three-run sixth inning that tied the score at 7.
