“We’ve been playing great defense,” he said. “Ever since that one-point loss to Sherburne (the top seed in Section Three Class B Tournament), we have been playing really well. I think this is the fourth straight game (against a Class C school) where somebody has failed to get to 30 against us. That’s a pretty big deal.

“To do well in the postseason, you have got to be playing good defense,” he continued, “and we are playing very good defense down the stretch.”

Christian Alexander scored a game-high 23 points Saturday, but Cooperstown’s season ended with a loss in the opening round of the Section Three Class C Tournament.

Park Summers contributed 12 points for the 13th-seeded Hawkeyes (9-9), who faced a 32-22 deficit at halftime.

Theo Wind’s 15 points paced fourth-seeded Little Falls (16-3), who received 13 points apiece from Mitchell Baumeister and Rashmere Green.

Little Falls will host a sectional quarterfinal against fifth-seeded Watertown-IHC on Tuesday.
