---- — Tori Rockefeller scored a game-high 20 points to lead second-seeded South Kortright to a Section Four Class D quarterfinal victory, 53-29.

“She hit a lot of big shots for us,” SK coach Josh Burroughs said of Rockefeller, who also had eight rebounds and two steals. “Her speed gets her to the hoop and her range from the outside makes her hard to guard.”

Rockefeller scored nine points in the second quarter to help the Rams to a 27-15 lead at halftime. Rockefeller had a three, a three-point play, a two-pointer and a free throw in the quarter.

Freshman Ashley Warycha came off the bench to score six points in the third quarter as SK extended its lead to 44-21. Warycha also grabbed seven rebounds.

Brianna Laing finished with 12 points, and Lexi DuBois and Savannah Hobbie had 10 rebounds apiece for SK.

Jordan and Lauren Loucks had six points apiece for seventh-seeded Cherry Valley-Springfield (13-6), which received five points apiece from Maddie Archer, Kylie Graham and Olivia Hull. The Patriots will lose four of their five starters to graduation, as only Archer, a junior, will be back next season.

South Kortright’s victory set up a matchup of unbeaten squads for yesterday’s sectional semifinal against third-seeded Franklin at Oneonta State. SK (19-0) is the top-ranked Class D team in the state and Franklin (18-0) is ranked third. The game took place after deadline.
