Boys lose to West Canada Valley

---- — Christian Alexander scored eight of his game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter, but Cooperstown lost a Center State Conference Division II boys basketball game at home, 67-49, to West Canada Valley on Friday night.

“They went 16-4 last year and have everyone back,” Cooperstown coach Dave Bertram said of West Canada Valley (4-0, 2-0), which held a 29-21 lead at halftime. “We hung with them throughout the game, but they went 12-for-12 at the foul line and hit seven threes. That’s the game right there.”

Robert Davenport scored 20 points for WCV, which received 13 points from Alex Williams and 10 from Mike Sternberg.

Jordan Manikas contributed 10 points for the Hawkeyes.
