Milford 4, Franklin 3

Peyton Griffiths had two goals and an assist to lead host Milford to a 4-2 Tri-Valley League boys soccer victory over Franklin.

Michael Strenck finished with a goal and an assist for the Wildcats, who took a 3-0 lead into halftime.

“They came out in the second half and put a lot of pressure on us,” Milford coach Frank Spurchise said. “It was a very, very competitive game, and Franklin came out on fire in the second half.”

Alex Brownell scored on a penalty kick (handball inside the box) before Derek Beers pulled the Purple to 3-2 with an unassisted goal.

“Those two kids are going to earn them some wins,” said Spurchise, who credited sophomore central defender Jacob Tabor for helping to limit Brownell’s opportunities. “They’re tough.”

Eli Coley converted a pass from Griffiths with about six minutes left for the final margin.
