---- — Cherry Valley-Springfield may have played itself out of the Tri-Valley East Division title race with a 64-24 home loss Friday to Schenevus.

After rally from a 7-2 start to 7-6 with 3:32 left in the first quarter on Maddie Archer’s basket, the Patriots were outscored 22-2 over the rest of the half.

“We just stunk,” CV-S coach Tim Dubben said. “They were great and we were awful.”

Sarah Mellor and Sierra Bentley scored 18 and 17 points respectively to set up an end-of-the-season showdown between Milford and Schenevus on Friday.

Maddie Archer led CV-S (11-5, 8-4) with six points.

With CV-S down but not out, the other T-V wildcard was the weather. Games scheduled for Wednesday after deadline were Milford at Richfield Springs and Worcester at Schenevus.

Any postponed games can be made up today, Saturday, Sunday or Monday.

In the event of losses this week by Milford and Schenevs, and a CV-S win over Richfield Springs on Friday, then a two-game, three-team tie-breaker would take place on Feb 11 and 12 in Laurens.

The Dragons are in Milford on Friday for the Wildcats’ Coaches versus Cancer game. If both Schenevus and Milford each win its other remaining game, then the title would be decided in Milford.

The winner plays West Division winner, No. 3 ranked Franklin, which is undefeated, on Feb. 15 at Oneonta State.
