CCS volleyball hosts playoff game tonight

Katie Franck finished the day with 15 assists, two kills, and one ace and Caroline Leonard added 10 kills and an ace, but Cooperstown fell to Hamilton, 3-1 in their final regular season game.

“Our passing was not very good today. We had a lot of hitting errors and a lack of motivation,” said Cooperstown coach Rich Jantzi. “The first time we played them, we played five games and had a total of 21 hitting errors. Today we had 24 hitting errors over four games. We didn’t play very well.”

Hamilton won the match 25-17, 24-26, 25-22, 25-9 led by a very strong all-around performance from Clara Jones.

“She’s pretty awesome,” said Jantzi.

The Hawkeyes would win the second game fueled by a strong serving effort from Kristen Ratliff. Ratliff had eight assists, two kills, and four aces on the night.

The game had little impact on Cooperstown’s postseason play. “(The fact that we lost today) won’t make much difference for us for sectionals,” Jantzi said.

Cooperstown (13-3, 7-1) hosts Sandy Creek in a sectional quarterfinal match-up tonight at 6 p.m.
