---- — Christian Alexander scored nine of his game-high 24 points Monday as host Cooperstown took a three-point lead, but Waterville responded with a 28-6 second-quarter run en route to a Center State Conference victory.

“We came with a lot of energy in the first quarter,” Cooperstown coach Dave Bertram said. “We were boxing out and running, and then we got tired. We fell off in the second quarter and they kept running. They got a lot of second and third opportunities until they scored.”

Cooperstown played without starter Jordan Manikus, who suffered a season-ending injury Friday against Frankfort-Schuyler. Manikus broke his right hand.

Park Summers and Raymond Cabrera scored six points apiece for Cooperstown (9-8), which will travel to Dolgeville on Thursday.
