Wildcat girls gets quick start Friday, but lose to Franklin Monday

Milford’s girls got a fast start to beat Cherry Valley-Springfield on Friday, but on Monday Franklin did the same thing to the Wildcats.

Against CV-S, Addy Lawson and Hannah Saggese scored two goals apiece before halftime to give Milford a 4-0 lead. Lawson got her first goal less than a minute into the game.

The Wildcats went on to win 4-2, in a Tri-Valley League East win at Cherry Valley.

Jordan Loucks finished with a goal and an assist to pace the Patriots, who also received a goal from Lauren Loucks. Both CV-S goals came after halftime.

The two teams will meet again in the final game of the regular season on Oct. 14 in Milford.

On Monday at Milford, the Purple Devils took a 3-0 lead. Kirsten Brownell scored two goals and Terry Peterson scored the third goal, heading in a corner kick by Jordan Beers.

Milford made a comeback in the final ten minutes of the game. Addy Lawson scored the first goal on a pass from Amanda Fish with just under ten minutes left.

Fish scored two minutes later, connecting on a shot that bounced around in the box after Emilie Mertz’s corner kick.

“It was a great game,” Milford coach Chris Saggese said on Monday. “Very good soccer on both sides and very exciting soccer to watch, for sure.”

For Franklin (4-0, 4-0), coach J.J. Laing got his 200th victory in the game.
