---- — Cooperstown sophomore Kristin Ratliff is proving to be a quick study as a runner.

Ratliff placed first as Cooperstown earned Center State Conference victories over Adirondack (23-incomplete), Waterville (19-40), Mount Markham (15-incomplete) and New York Mills (15-41).

Ratliff completed the 3.1-mile course in 20 minutes, 35 seconds. She beat runner-up Meghann Tanner of Adirondack by 7 seconds.

“Kristin was in the lead well before the first mile and, as far as I know, did not relinquish it,” Cooperstown coach Jessie Ravage said. “Kristin is exciting to watch race.”

Ratliff’s teammate, Samantha Fanion, placed third in 21:23.

Cooperstown’s boys went 2-2, beating Waterville (15-incomplete) and Mount Markham (27-28), and losing to Adirondack (42-15) and New York Mills (43-16).

Jacob Russell’s 10th-place finish paced Cooperstown. He finished in 19:23.
