Cooperstown’s girls swim team has won its fourth straight Frontier League B South Division title.
The Hawkeyes clinched the title on Oct. 3 with a 106-73 win over Sherburne-Earlville at home.
Tessa Griger won two events to lead Cooperstown.
Griger placed first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:35.98) and the 100 butterfly (1:10.36). She also anchored the victorious 200 free relay team, following Renee Friedman, Catherine Borgstrom and Lindsay Harloff for a time of 2:06.91.
Harloff won the 50 free (30.94) for Cooperstown, which also received victories from Borgstrom (diving, 174.40 points), Elizabeth Russo (100 free, 1:02.30), Eden Griger (500 free, 5:43.37) and Grace Heneghan (100 backstroke, 1:16.54).
Heneghan, Russo, Eden Griger and Harloff also won the 200 medley relay (2:16.50).
Coach Katy Haseley said that she has been getting strong performances from most of her team.
“We’ve done really well,” she said.
Haseley had circled the Oct. 1 meet at Holland Patent as a big one for her team. Cooperstown responded with a 57-45 win.
“That was a solid win. We really beat them soundly,” she said. “The great thing was all of our girls had their best efforts that day.”
Cooperstown’s meet on Monday at Oneonta was postponed because of bad weather. The meet will be made up on Oct. 17. The team had a meet at Adirondack yesterday after deadline and finishes the league season at West Canada Valley on Oct. 15.
