Busse said Johnny Bench is probably her favorite Red, but last summer’s induction of Barry Larkin, who played his entire major league career with Cincinnati, was big for her family too.
“My brother, Derek, works at Pioneer Patio and he decorated the whole restaurant in red,” she said. “We started a hashtag on Twitter trying to get (Larkin) to eat there. He didn’t. He probably ate at the Otesaga; I can’t blame him for that.”
In the fall, she’ll return to St. John Fisher, a place she said reminds her of Cooperstown.
“It is a small, private school. Everybody knows everybody. It is kind of like Cooperstown, which is why I wanted to go there,” she said.
In the meantime, Busse said she is enjoying her summer internship.
“I didn’t know what to expect, but it has been nothing but a positive experience,” she said. “I’ve learned a lot and I know I have a lot more to learn.”
