Cooperstown sweeps

Maggie Hall’s three-run homer in the first inning helped host Cooperstown to a 4-0 non-league victory over Hoosic Falls of Section Two in the first of two five-inning games.

Hall’s 17th homer for Cooperstown, her second of the season, came after Jen Flynn and Christina Noto singled. Noto finished 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Maria Noto struck out eight and walked none in a two-hitter for the Hawkeyes (7-1). She followed with five strikeouts in a five-inning no-hitter as Cooperstown won the second game, 5-0.

Christina Noto opened the scoring in the second game with an RBI triple that followed a single by Flynn.

Cooperstown hosts Central Valley today.

Cooperstown used two steals in the top of the fifth inning to earn a Center State Conference win on the road.

Maggie Hall was hit by a pitch, stole second and took third on a passed ball. She then scored what proved to be the decisive run on a double-steal, giving the Hawkeyes a 2-0 lead.

Maria Noto threw a four-hitter for the Hawkeyes (5-1, 3-1), who were held to two hits and allowed a run in the seventh.

Sarah Lawrence went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs to lead host Edmeston to a Tri-Valley League win.

Lawrence hit a RBI triple to left-center field to score Sydney Smith for the first run in the first inning.
