Elijah Rutledge and Chris Rumovicz placed first in two events each as host Milford defeated Laurens, 48-40 in a Tri-Valley League boys meet.

Rutledge earned victories in the 400 meters (59.18) and the 800 (2:37.73). Rumovicz placed first in the 1,600 (5:40.45) and the 3,200 (12:09.16).

Edwin Rivera won the 100 (12.33) and the 200 (25.68) for Laurens. Teammate Leif Ericson contributed wins in the 100 hurdles (17.81) and the 400 hurdles (1:07.97).

On the girls side, Milford won, 68-30.

Emilie Mertz earned victories in the 200 (28.91) and the 400 (1:03.56) for Milford, which received victories from Keira Higgins in the 1,500 (5:52.03) and the 3,000 (12:49.88).

SOFTBALL

RS 6, Schenevus 0

Schenevus softball coach Rob Spranger saw something different Tuesday.

Spranger watched as Richfield Springs’ Kaity Richvalsky, and the Dragons tandem of Dani Tefft and Sarah Mellor threw no-hitters in the Indians’ 6-0 Tri-Valley League victory.

It marked the season-opener for both teams.

‘‘I have never been a part of a no-hitter by both teams,’’ Spranger said.

RS benefitted from seven walks in the first 2 2/3 innings en route to scoring four runs.

Richvalsky struck out 11 and walked three. She also walked twice, had two steals and scored two runs.

Schenevus will host Hancock today.

BASEBALL

Schenevus 13, RS 2

Robert Burton and Zach Schallert combined on a three-hitter, and David Vosatka scored three times and stole four bases to lead host Schenevus to a Tri-Valley League.

It marked the season-opener for both teams.

Burton struck out 10 and walked two over five innings. He allowed two hits.

Jacob Darling doubled and stole three bases for the Dragons, who will host Hancock today.

Tom Worobey had two hits for Richfield Springs.
