CV-S coaches vs. Cancer
Cherry Valley-Springfield will hold its Coaches vs. Cancer games at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 24.
The Patriot boys will play Richfield Springs in junior varsity and varsity games.
Richfield Springs will also hold a Coaches vs. Cancer event on Jan. 24 with girls games against CV-S.
The admission price in Cherry Valley is a stuffed animal that will be packaged and mailed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. In addition, there will be raffles, ribbon sales and t-shirt sales. All proceeds will benefit St. Jude’s and the Dick Vitale Foundation for Pediatric Cancer.
Milford Coachesvs. Cancer
Milford will hold its Coaches vs. Cancer games on Feb. 7.
The Wildcats will host Schenevus in varsity basketball games. The girls will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys at 7:30 p.m.
There will be candy jar raffles, basket raffles, 50/50 raffles and a bake sale. The entire night of profits will be donated to the American Cancer Society on behalf of breast cancer.
Soccer registration opens
Cooperstown Soccer Club has opened its 2014 spring season registration. Spring season is open to kids in grades kindergarten through sixth grade. There will also be a special 7v7 co-ed league offered to those in grades seventh through 12th.
Cost of Recreational League registration is $30 per participant. Cost of 7v7 League is $45. There is a family discount of $5 for each additional child. Registration will close on Feb. 22.
The league is also seeking team sponsors. Sponsorships include a business’ name on the back of one team’s shirts, recognition on the league website and a photo of the team to display. The cost of team sponsorship is $100 per season or $175 for two seasons.

Hall to offer overnights
The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will offer its Extra Innings Overnights program beginning in February.
The program features a sleepover in the Hall’s Plaque Gallery for children ages seven to 12 and their parents/guardians. It is open to museum members and youth groups.
Cost is $49.95 per person and includes after-hours access to the Hall’s public areas, hands-on programs throughout the museum, a late-night snack, a movie in the Bullpen Theater and a light breakfast the following morning. All junior participants will receive a Hall of Fame knapsack and mementos.
The program will run Feb. 22-23 and March 22-23 for youth groups only. It also will run March 1-2 and April 5-6 for members only.

Hall accepting intern applications
The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown is accepting applications for next year’s class at the Frank and Peggy Steele Internship Program for Leadership Development.
Applications for the Class of 2014 will be accepted through Jan. 31, 2014. The Steele Internship Program will provide students the chance to join the Hall in a 10-week summer internship.
To be considered for the program, students must be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program at a college or university, having completed at least their sophomore year. Fifteen intern positions are available.
