Sumer Murdock scored 22 points and Alannah Haggerty had 14 to lead top-seeded Cooperstown to a 67-24 girls basketball rout of visiting Beaver River in a Section Three Class C-1 quarterfinal Friday night.
Murdock sank three three-point field goals and Haggerty grabbed 12 rebounds for the state-ranked Redskins (17-2), who jumped to a 21-2 lead after one quarter en route to a 38-7 advantage at halftime.
“Haggerty was out of this world,” Cooperstown coach Mike Niles said. “Maggie Hall had six steals and played out of this world on their point guard, too.”
Hall helped limit seventh-grade point guard Emma Puddington to two points for eighth-seeded Beaver River (6-13), which received a team-best 10 points from Abby Cornell.
Liz Millea contributed 12 points, seven assists and five steals for Cooperstown, which advanced to a C-1 semifinal at Onondaga Community College on Wednesday. Cooperstown was to play Herkimer, but the score was not available before deadline.
