Cherry Valley-Springfield Central School, on county Route 54 in Cherry Valley, has announced its winter class schedule.

The school has partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association and the Office for the Aging for three informational classes. Alzheimer’s Disease: Know the 10 signs as early detection matters will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Dementia Conversations will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Jan 31.

Medicare 101 will be held from 10 a.m. to noon March 7. The classes are free. Advance registration is required.

Karate began Jan. 8 and will continue in six-week blocks until June. Several levels of karate are available from beginner through adult with instructor Brian Cox. Interested participants should call for specific information and pricing on each class.

Pound workout classes start at 6 p.m. Monday.

Zumba will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

Yoga starts at 5:45 p.m.Tuesday and repeats on Thursday.

Acrylic painting will be taught from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Feb. 27. Instructor Anna Halkowich will provide step-by-step instruction. Participants will complete a painting for $25.

Women’s basketball open gym is held at 6 p.m Wednesdays.

Basket Weaving with Susan Hardy will be offered with a day and evening option. Two workshops will be offered from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. and 5:45 to 8:45 p.m. March 6 and 7 and March 13 and 14. A small waste basket with curls or a berry bottom fruit basket will be created in the first workshop. Weavers will create either a Shaker style cheese basket or a tissue basket in the second workshop. The fee is $30 per workshop.

Natural Soap Making by certified soap maker Maria Gelnett will include a beginner and advanced class from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3. Students will create old-fashioned, cold processed healing bar soap and complete 30 bars of colored, herbal and scented soap. The fee will be $55 for the beginners class and $65 for the advanced class. Students will need to provide some materials. Enrollment is limited.

Liquid Soap Making will be demonstrated from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 3. Attendees will learn to make liquid Castile soap from scratch and take home a foamer bottle and an all-purpose household cleaner for $35.

Knitting for Beginners will be taught by Rebecca Carter at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 5 and 12.

Essential Oils: Safe Use and a Specialty Blend by certified aromatherapist Heather Hogan will return from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 3. The fee is $30.

The American Red Cross CPR/AED course will be offered at 5:30 p.m. Feb 28, by Marge Miller in cooperation with Bassett Healthcare. The cost is $20. Advance registration is required.

Delicious Desserts with Mary Fralick will be taught from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 5 and 7. Students will learn how to make chocolate mousse, crème brulee and profiteroles.

The NYS SED First Aid for Coaches Course will be taught by Les Bush from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays, March 3 and 10. Participants will have the option of attending both Saturdays if they need the full course or one Saturday for re-certification.

Health Sciences Applied to Coaching will begin at 7 p.m. Feb. 28. It will continue weekly through May. It will be taught by Jordan Jaquay.

Understanding Estate & Elder Law Planning with Ryan Coutlee will also be offered.

Create with Cricut Expression will be taught by PJ Johnson.
