The Cooperstown Winter Carnival Committee will host two receptions this weekend for the public to learn more about the 2018 event, which takes place from Feb. 9 to 11.
The first reception is noon Saturday at the Tunnicliff Inn Dining Room at 34 Pioneer St. Refreshments will be available. The two-hour event, hosted by the Cooperstown Lions Club, sponsor of the Winter Carnival, is an opportunity to receive the full, printed schedule.
Organizers are also looking for more volunteers, and said Saturday’s event is an opportunity to get involved in the weekend festivities. There are dozens of positions needing volunteers. More information will be available on Saturday.
In addition, Lions Club members will be available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Welcome Center tent in Pioneer Park, at the corner of Main and Pioneer streets.
Visit www.cooperstownwintercarnival.com for a preview of the events and to see the volunteer positions. There is also a Facebook page.
The event is made possible by support from financial donors and those contributing by donating goods and services.
The planning committee consists of Lions Club members Rich McCaffery, chairman, and Joshua McMahon, marketing; John Saphier, treasurer; Marcie Birch, event co-chair, community representative; and Liz Callahan, event co-chair, representative.
The committee is still accepting monetary contributions and checks payable to the Cooperstown Winter Carnival. They can be sent to P.O. Box 912, Cooperstown, NY, 13326.
