The Cooperstown American Legion baseball team is seeking interested players from Northern Otsego County for this year’s team, said head coach Ed Dubben.
``We already have some players from Milford, Cherry Valley-Springfield and Cooperstown, but we need a few more to set our roster,’’ Dubben, the CV-S varsity baseball coach, said.
The team’s first practice was Wednesday, and the season will begin in mid-June.
``My goal is to play 25 games,’’ Dubben said. The team will play home games at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, the Cooperstown High School baseball field and at the CV-S baseball field when needed, Dubben added. Interested players can call Dubben at 547-9783.
Cooperstown’s Jarrett Hotaling, Tim Feik, Greg Brodserson, and Jimmy Donley are on the roster, as well as Milford’s Terence Harrison, Gideon Powers and Trevor Kosturock and CV-S’s David Adams, Adam Halay, Sam Dubben and Scott Stiles. The Milford, CV-S and Cooperstown varsity baseball teams all had winning seasons this spring.
The Patriots won their third T-V title in five seasons last Friday; Milford was ranked number one in the state at one point in ther season; and Cooperstown won Division II of the Center State Conference.
``There are a lot of good players in our area right now,’’ Dubben said. ``I’m looking forward to getting them all together.’’
