Benjamin Schiros of West Winfield received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering, sustainable energy systems engineering minor.

Jordan Burton of Worcester received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering.

Ryan Perrillo of Worcester received a bachelor of science degree in political science, communication minor.

ST. LAWARENCE UNIVERSITY

Macklin T. Brigham of Cherry Valley graduated from St. Lawrence University with a bachelor of arts magna cum laude degree. Brigham majored in performance and communication arts.

KEYSTONE COLLEGE

Jean-Pierre Jam III of Milford, a student is the School of Professional Studies, was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree from Keystone College in LaPlume, Pennsylvania, at commencement ceremonies held on May 11.

ELMIRA COLLEGE

The Elmira College Class of 2019 included more than 115 graduates receiving summa cum laude, magna cum laude and cum laude honors at the college’s 161st Commencement on Sunday, June 2. The exercises included 204 undergraduate and 22 graduate students.

Local students receiving honors included Jack Donnelly of Cooperstown, magna cum laude, and Maya Wasson of Fly Creek, summa cum laude.

CASTLETON UNIVERSITY

Daniel Bosma and Mallory Timpano, both of Cherry Valley, graduated from Castleton University in Castleton, Vermont on May 18, at its 232nd commencement.

CAZENOVIA COLLEGE

Cazenovia College held its 194th commencement ceremony on May 18. The following area students received degrees. Mykahla Collins graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice and psychology; Kathleen Cotten graduated with a bachelor of Fine Arts in visual communications; Rebecca VanBuren graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in inclusive elementary education. All three graduates are from Richfield Springs.

SUNY NEW PALTZ

Two area students graduated from SUNY New Paltz in May. Luke Zenir of Cherry Valley earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and Nicholas Summers of Cooperstown earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics.

ITHACA COLLEGE

Two area students graduated from Ithaca College in May. Grace Heneghan of Cooperstown graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in integrated marketing communications. Emilie Mertz of Milford graduated magna cum laude with Bachelor of Science degree in in exercise science.

UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA

Isabella Joanne Anania of Cooperstown received a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in May.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAVEN

Two area students received degrees from the University of New Haven at commencement ceremonies in May.

Tyler Bianchine of Cherry Valley graduated from the College of Arts and Sciences with a Bachelor of Science degree in marine biology.

Casey Roy of Worcester graduated from the Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences with a a Bachelor of Science degree in forensic science with a concentration in biology

BIELEFELD UNIVERSITY

Matthew C. Burch of Hartwick recently graduated from Bielefeld University in Germany with a Master of Arts degree in InterAmerican Studies.

ROCHESTER INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

The following area students graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees from Rochester Institute of Technology in May.

Annalia Anderson of Cherry Valley, hospitality and tourism management; Joshua Bush of Hartwick, mechanical engineering technology; Lucas Miller of Burlington Flats, mechanical engineering technology; and Garrett Paige of Sharon Springs, management information systems.

NAZARETH COLLEGE

Katherine Franck of Cooperstown earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Nazareth College in Rochester. Commencement was May. 12.

SUNY CANTON

The following area students recently graduated from SUNY Canton: Karl Johansen of Cooperstown, Bachelor of Technology degree in criminal investigation; Quentin M. Powers of Milford, Bachelor of Technology degree in homeland security; and Heather Federow of Schuyler Lake, associate in applied science degree and Bachelor of Science degree in veterinary science technology and veterinary technology.

HARTWICK COLLEGE

The following local students graduated from Hartwick College in Oneonta in May. Krista Lynn Curpier of Cooperstown; William Irving Day of Richfield Springs; Melanye Rockwell of Burlington Flats; Goldie Spina of Worcester; Jared Edward Stein of Richfield Springs and Mataiah Lauren Waters of Milford.

UNIVERSITY AT ALBANY

The following area students graduated during the University of Albany’s 175th commencement.

Cooperstown: Benjamin Breiten, Bachelor of Science, nanoscale science, magna cum laude.

Richfield Springs: Christopher Calkins, Bachelor of Arts, emergency preparedness, Homeland Security & cybersecurity, cum laude; Roman Hula, Master of Arts, mathematics; and Jacob Lansing, Bachelor of Arts, emergency preparedness, Homeland Security & cybersecurity.

South New Berlin: Lauren Peck, Master of Public Health, public health.

Two area college students will receive $1,500 scholarships from Farm Credit East, an agricultural lending cooperative with an office outside Cooperstown.

Rileigh Mumbulo of Edmeston is majoring in agricultural engineering technology at attends SUNY Morrisville. She hopes to diversify her family’s eighth-generation dairy farm.

Megan Wilmot of Cherry Valley is majoring in animal science at Pennsylvania State University in pursuit of a career as a large animal veterinarian.
