The Fenimore Art Museum will present Art by the Lake from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, on the lakefront lawn.

The 12th annual juried art event aims to celebrate fine artists who are inspired by the region and its beauty, presenters said in a media release. This year, a wider range of art will be available for visitors to see and purchase including oil and watercolor paintings, photography, sculpture, blown glass, wood carving and more. The event will features artist demonstrations and food.

Art by the Lake is a juried art competition featuring 27 artists from the region. A panel of judges determines awards — this year led by onsite awards judge June Tyler. Six cash prizes will be awarded, as well as two additional prizes sponsored by Golden Artist Colors. The awards ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. Artists are Meg Anderson Argo, Vernon Burnett, Susana Caban, Shannon Delany, Lorraine Dewey, Jennifer Gibson, Robert Glisson, Erik Halvorson, Tracy Helgeson, Lu D Huang, Johanna Husband, Tom Hussey, Richard Kathmann, Susan Jones Kenyon, Nancy Kieffer, Doug and Barbara Luhmann, RC Oster, Alex Roediger, Sam Ross, Marie Sanderson, Ritvik Sharma, Holly Spiess, Lisa Tessier, Emmanuel Vaucher, Christopher Wakefield and Annie Zygarowicz.

The Fenimore Art Museum will be open to view the exhibits, including “Herb Ritts: The Rock Portraits” and “Perfect Harmony: The Musical Art and Life of William Sidney Mount.” The Fenimore Café and Fenimore Gift Shop will also be open.

 Admission to Art by the Lake is $12 for those ages 13 and older and includes access to Fenimore Art Museum. At the same time, across the street, The Farmers’ Museum will host Hopsego. Visitors can attend both for $20. Museum members are admitted free, as are children 12 and younger and active and retired career military who present their card at admission. Tickets are available at the door on the day of the event.
